CRISIS AT FORT HOOD
This past Thursday, November 6th, Fort Hood in Killeen, Tx. was under attack. Not by any opposing armies or rivalries, but by a military mental health doctor facing deployment overseas. On this drastic Thursday afternoon, psychiatrist and Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan shot and killed twelve people and wounded thiry-one people. The shooter was initially reported to have been killed, but Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone told a late night news conference that the suspect was wounded and in custody. US President Barack Obama called a shooting attack at the Fort Hood military base in Texas Thursday a "horrific outburst of violence. It's simply ironic that a soldier of the U.S army would commit to assaulting his own men simply do to his upcoming deployment scheduled later on this month. Hasan's cousin, said that she believed it was his upcoming deployment combined with the wartime horror stories he heard from his patients that set him off. She also stated, Hasan was also harassed after 9/11 because of his ethnicity, and was called a "camel jockey." Simply leading you to think what could have been the issue that set him off. this is simply an outrage, and definately probably a highly unexpected act at the base. lets just hope justice serves him right in the end.
